There is something truly magical about a leather skirt that has been styled to perfection.
I don’t know about you but I have always been a little bit intimidated by leather skirts… So shiny, so sexy; I struggle to imagine myself wearing one and not looking like I’ve squeezed myself into a garbage bag.
I think it is because there is a stigma around leather skirts – people think they’re restricted to only the young, slender and skanky – but restricted to one type of woman they are not!
When styled correctly, a leather skirt is a little bit sexy, super sophisticated and has a playful edge and styling them correctly (once you have the right one) is easy.
Using this gorgeous knee length (yep that’s right, leather isn’t just reserved for mini skirts), not too tight (what!? A leather skirt that doesn’t hug my every lump and bump – a miracle) and with a special twist (is that a little split I see?) number from Fate, I’ve created five outfit options to suit a range of different occasions.
Outfit 1: Leather and knitwear were made for each other. This outfit can be worn to so many different occasions but we'd save this one for a Sunday lunch. Turtle-neck's like this one by POL are very on-trend this season. Add some sunnies, cute shoes and a Saskenka bag.
Outfit 2: This simple outfit is our favourite way to wear a leather skirt. Pair it with a comfortable tee and accessorise wisely (we like these The Finery shoesand this necklace) and you've got yourself a 'cocktails with the girls' appropriate outfit. We'd tuck the top in on this occasion.
Outfit 3: Don't want to make a statement with your leather? Easy, just wear it with black everything (we like this Fate knit and these The Finery shoes) and add a bright cardi or coat. This outfit is great for a family get together.
Outfit 4: We are crazy about boots at Alice and this is the perfect outfit to wear them with. A long top like this one is the hero of the outfit so don't tuck it in - Wear it with pride. Your leather skirt will be peeking out from underneath as a special little addition. Add a Sashenka bag to finish.
Outfit 5: The casual outfit. Wear your leather skirt with one of our Rails shirts, pair with some sandals and a contrasting bag and you're ready to hit the shops, catch up with a girlfriend over coffee or take the kids to swimming lessons in style.
